Blue Ridge Babysitting Co. Policies

Proudly serving Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Murfreesboro, Bellevue, Mt. Juliet, Spring Hill, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee communities — as well as Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Blue Ridge Babysitting Co. is a referral-only babysitting agency. We introduce families to background-checked, personally vetted sitters for one-time and recurring care. This page provides a simple, easy-to-read overview of how our service works.

Please note: this is a simplified summary. All bookings are governed by our full Client Referral Agreement, which families review and accept during registration.

1. Our Role

Blue Ridge Babysitting Co. is a matchmaking and referral service. We:

• Connect families with sitters who have completed our vetting process
• Help match your family with a sitter based on your needs and schedule

We do not employ sitters, supervise their work, set their pay, or handle payroll/taxes. Once a sitter accepts a job, the working relationship and payment are between the family and the sitter.

2. Sitter Vetting

Before a sitter can be referred, we complete:

• Criminal background check
• Sex offender registry search
• Identity verification
• At least two childcare reference checks
• Personal interview and vetting by our management team

Sitters pay for their own background checks and may also purchase Blue Ridge–branded apparel, but this does not make them employees of the agency.

We encourage families to interview sitters, confirm certifications (such as CPR), and ask any questions that help them feel secure.

3. Memberships, Matches, and Fees

We offer flexible ways to book:

• Day Pass – one match for a single booking date
• Scout Plan – monthly plan with up to 6 matches
• Summit Pass – 12-month plan with up to 60 matches

A “match” (or booking fee) applies to one sitter matched for one date of care, even if you use the same sitter again.

All fees are non-refundable. There are no rollovers, credits, or refunds once a membership, Day Pass, or match is initiated.

Memberships automatically renew unless cancelled by the family.

4. Credits When a Sitter Cancels

Credits apply only to Day Pass bookings and only when:

  1. A sitter cancels, and

  2. We are unable to secure a replacement sitter.

Credits hold no cash value and expire after a set period.

If we offer a replacement sitter and the Client declines, no credit is issued. Membership plans do not receive credits.

5. Hourly Pay to Sitters

Families who use our service must commit to paying sitters fairly — at least $23 per hour. This ensures a high-quality sitter network and competitive pay.

The exact rate and payment method (cash, Venmo, Zelle, etc.) are arranged directly between the family and sitter. The Agency is not involved in payment processing.

A. Family understand that they are the employers of each sitter and must track and maintain payment history to their sitters incase the mandated state thresh hold has been met and a w-4 must be issued.

6. Cancellations and Late Returns

To protect sitter time:

• Canceling 3 or more days before the booking → pay 50% of booked hours
• Canceling less than 3 days before the booking → pay 100% of booked hours

These cancellation fees are paid directly to the sitter.

Late returns must be paid for in full, including any overtime agreed upon with the sitter.

7. Safety and Home Environment Requirements

Families must maintain a safe and respectful environment and disclose:

• Illnesses in the home
• Pets
• Cameras or audio devices
• Weapons or hazards
• Allergies, behavioral needs, or medical conditions
• Any special routines or safety concerns

No illegal substances or impaired adults may be present during childcare.

Sitters may leave immediately if they feel unsafe, if unknown adults enter the home, or if they discover undisclosed cameras or hazards.

Clients must remain reachable by phone during the entire booking.

8. Communication and Off-Platform Booking

All communication should remain on the Agency platform before a sitter is confirmed.

Families may not:

• Book sitters directly outside the Agency
• Share sitter contact information with other families
• Use our introductions to build a private sitter list

* Families will have access to sitter # for emergency purposes if needed.

Families agree not to bypass the agency for 12 months after their last booking. This allows us to maintain a strong sitter network and keep our service sustainable.

9. Incident Reporting

If a safety issue, injury, property incident, or sitter concern occurs, families must:

  1. Notify the Agency as soon as reasonably possible

  2. Submit a written incident report within 24 hours

This ensures we can take appropriate action and support both parties.

10. Legal and Liability Summary

The Agency is not responsible for:

• Injuries or accidents that occur during childcare
• Property damage or loss
• Payment disputes
• Any sitter’s actions or negligence

Inviting caregivers into your home carries inherent risks. Families agree to assume those risks by using our services.
