Why Ridge Scouts Love Working With Us
(A mama-run, supportive care team)
At Blue Ridge Babysitting Co., Ridge Scouts aren’t just profiles in a system — they’re trusted members of our team. We offer a thoughtful, well-organized scheduling process that respects your time, experience, and professionalism.
As a mama-run company, we communicate directly with families to understand their needs before sessions are offered. That means the opportunities you receive are intentional, clearly outlined, and aligned with your availability — not mass requests or last-minute chaos.

✓ Supportive, Not Micromanaged
Our team supports scheduling and communication while respecting your independence as a professional.
✓ Mama-Led
Founded by a mom and childcare professional who understands both family needs and caregiver realities.

The Bottom Line
Ridge Scouts choose Blue Ridge because it’s organized, respectful, and human — a place where caregivers feel supported, trusted, and valued.
Why Ridge Scouts Love Working with Us
A mama-run, supportive care team
At Blue Ridge Babysitting Co., Ridge Scouts are more than profiles — they’re trusted members of a thoughtful, well-supported team. Sessions are shared intentionally, with clear details and real communication, so your time, experience, and professionalism are always respected.
As a mama-led company, we connect directly with families before offering care opportunities. The result is organized scheduling, aligned expectations, and meaningful work — not mass requests or last-minute chaos.

Personal. Clear. Supportive. Mama-led.
That’s the Blue Ridge difference — and why Ridge Scouts feel trusted, valued, and proud to be part of our care community.

Join the Ridge Scout Team
Ridge Scouts are professional, dependable caregivers who meet the standards families rely on when booking care through Blue Ridge Babysitting Co. These guidelines help ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality care for every family we serve.

What We Look For
18+ Years Old
All Ridge Scouts must be legal adults.
3+ Years of Childcare Experience (Post-18)
Hands-on experience such as babysitting, nannying, school or classroom support, camp counseling, church nursery care, or similar roles working directly with children.
Background Check & Screening
Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is required. Additional screening, including drug testing, may apply based on role or family needs.
CPR & First Aid Awareness
Certification is strongly preferred. Caregivers not currently certified must be willing to obtain certification before accepting sessions.
Reliable Transportation
Ridge Scouts manage their own availability and accept sessions within their service area.
Clear, Professional Communication
Families rely on caregivers who are punctual, responsive, and respectful.
Smartphone Access
Required to receive session details, scheduling updates, and team communication.

What This Means
Being a Ridge Scout means joining a professional, organized care team that values reliability, flexibility, and mutual respect — while giving you the freedom to choose sessions that fit your life.

How This Role Works
Working with Blue Ridge Babysitting Co. is most similar to a daycare or preschool position in pay structure only.
Ridge Scouts are W-2 hourly employees paid through payroll, with care provided where families are staying — including private homes, vacation rentals, hotels, or short-term accommodations.
This is not a nanny placement and does not include guaranteed schedules or employment benefits.
What This Means
-
You work in family homes, Airbnb's, or hotels
-
You are paid hourly through company payroll, with taxes handled for you
-
Shifts are offered based on family demand
-
You choose which shifts to accept
-
Hours and schedules are not guaranteed
-
Health insurance and benefits are not provided
This role is best suited for flexible or supplemental income.
Care Expectations
Lesson plans or curriculum are not required. However, Ridge Scouts are expected to:
-
Remain actively engaged with children
-
Maintain constant supervision and safety
-
Follow family routines and care instructions
-
Provide age-appropriate play and interaction
-
Communicate professionally at all times
These are hands-on care roles, not passive or downtime positions.
Scheduling & Shift Interest
Care sessions vary by location, season, and family demand. Some opportunities — such as vacation care, on-call support, overnight care, or short-term roles — may begin with an interest check.
Please note:
-
Expressing interest does not guarantee assignment
-
Interest checks are not job offers
-
Applicants must complete onboarding before working
-
Final assignments depend on availability, timing, and eligibility
You are always free to accept or decline shifts based on your availability.
Who This Role Is Best For
This position is ideal for caregivers who:
-
Enjoy variety and flexibility
-
Have childcare or early education experience
-
Feel comfortable working in different environments
-
Understand that demand may fluctuate
-
Want legitimate W-2 employment without rigid schedules
If you are seeking guaranteed hours, fixed scheduling, or benefits, this role may not be the right fit.
